God is not for sale - Mixed Media on Canvas ( 30x40 )

God is not for sale

2 Peter 2:1-3

"But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them – bringing swift destruction on themselves. Many will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into disrepute. In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping."

The TV is a powerful medium. It can reach millions with a single broadcast. It can move people to Christ and it can also fool and deceive people. This painting is not meant to be a slam on all TV evangelistic efforts but is meant to be a warning about the many who use God's name to profit themselves.

Beauty through Pain - Mixed Media on Canvas (24X32)

Beauty through pain

Romans 8:18

"I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.”

I used the backdrop of bad, painful news stories and overcrowed city housing for this bouquet of flowers. The flowers look as if they are weeping. But despite the dark depressing imagery the flowers still have an enduring beauty all their own.

Hope for Japan - Graphic Giclee Print ( 24X36 )

Hope for Japan

On March 11, 2011, an earthquake struck off the coast of Japan, churning up a devastating tsunami that swept over cities and farmland in the northern part of the country. Hundreds died and thousands were affected. This piece is in response to the hurting people of Japan and shows the pain of that day but also proclaims the hope for that proud and resilient country. The Geisha represents the beauty of Japan. The "Red Sun" is made up of crying eyes. The bamboo represents growth and renewal. The whole piece resembles the Japanese flag.

The Lamb

John 1:29

"Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!”

The Old Testament is filled with keeping rules or keeping the Law. Jewish followers would offer sacrifices to God to atone for their sins. Many types of animals were used as sacrifices including a perfect or spotless lamb. Jesus came as a man to be the final sacrifice. He lived a life without sin… The perfect Lamb of God shed his blood for all who would believe in Him.

2 Corinthians 4:17-18

For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison,  while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are notseen ; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
